When we run

When we run

We run on the track on Tuesday @ 7pm and Thursday @ 12pm and have a number of different speeds groups for road runs on a Thursday @ 7pm.

If you want to try out the club we are happy for you to try 3 sessions, however we ask that if you come more often than that, you become a member - it's very reasonable!

We are a friendly running group, and new members come along every week, so there are always new faces. We welcome new people at any time throughout the year.

Where we run

We meet at Abbey View Track, Verulamium Park, Holywell Hill, St Albans, Hertfordshire AL1 2DL (behind Westminster Lodge Leisure). Below is a map of where we meet.

Track

Tuesdays

Interval sessions are organised by our coaching team. This is where we all run for a few minutes and then rest for a few minutes. Everyone runs at their own speed, and can stop at any time, so don’t be frightened that it’s on the track, this is the easiest session to go to if you are not sure when you might need to stop!

Thursdays

Similar sessions are available on a Thursday lunchtime.

Interval sessions

In addition to the track, there are usually other interval sessions on offer on a Tuesday night, depending on your speed group. During the summer we often have lake reps in the park, suitable for all abilities, and hill sessions or other intervals either in or near the park throughout the year. See Facebook or evening announcements for further details.

Road runs

Thursdays

Group runs at different speeds and distances around St Albans

All road runs are led by members who volunteer and the runs being offered are announced at 7pm, so make sure you get there in good time. They are usually ‘described’ by speed in minutes per mile (i.e. 10 minute mile pace = 10 minutes to run a mile). The easiest option on offer is usually 5 miles at 10 minutes/mile pace and other runs on offer increase in distance and pace right up to 7 or 8 miles at 7 minutes/mile pace.

On Thursdays we mostly do not use the track, but a few different runs of different speeds and distances go out onto the road.

Other Runs

We also hold various other training activities throughout the year. These are normally communicated to members through our Facebook group. Members often use the Facebook group to arrange other group runs on weekends or at other times of the week.
