The St Albans Striders membership year runs from April to March each year, concurrent with the England Athletics membership year.
*** Due the current coronavirus restrictions we have not been accepting new members. As long as the government restrictions are lifted as planned on 21st June 2021 we will be reopening to new members. Note that there will be no limit on the number of new members we accept so there is need to worry about missing out ***
*** When memberships are open a link will appear here with further information. Please check back to get the latest updates. ***
From 1 April 2016, registration with England Athletics is compulsory for runners who intend to represent their club in races conducted under UKA rules. These include many of the major and local road races and the Chiltern League cross-country events.
We therefore recommend that you register as a 1st Claim member when you join Striders, this option will include the EA fee of £15 for April 2021 - March 2022.
This is open to British nationals resident in England and to foreign athletes who register as such with EA. Your EA membership will entitle you to reduced race entry prices and to run as a Strider in a club vest, appear in results listings as a Strider and be eligible for team prizes and county medals. Without EA membership you can, of course, still race in UKA events as an unattached runner.
Once a year we also offer a "Run With Striders" course to help those who are new to club running.
The course is for runners who are new to Striders, currently running at least 5K distance, who want to meet other runners of their level and pick up some ideas and tips to improve their running. It’s a gentle introduction to all the different aspects of the club.
