Track & Field

As a member of Striders you have the opportunity to take part in various Track and Field events throughout the year in conjunction with our sister club St Albans AC.

To take part in track and field competitions, you need to have current England Athletics membership with St Albans Striders. If you don't have this, please complete the EA membership form on the Annual Membership page. As Striders are not licensed for track and field, you also need to be affiliated with St Albans AC. For most Striders this is done autmatically. You can check you EA profile and it should also show you as 'First Claim Other' for St Albans AC. If this is not the case please contact the membership secretary for assistance.

Southern Athletics League (SAL)

This league comprises of various clubs from throughout the south of England. There are three divisions in the Southern Athletics League. Next season St Albans AC will be in Division 3 North. All league fixtures for 2020 have been cancelled and the league will return in 2021.

Herts and North MIddlesex Masters League

These events are open to members over 35 years old. There are four matches during the season that take place on Monday evenings (Between May and July). All league fixtures for 2020 have been cancelled and the league will return in 2021.

Hertfordshire County Championships

There are a number of county championship events throughout the season. Individuals can enter their chosen event(s) with a chance to win county medals. The events include:-

March - Indoor Champs - Lee Valley

May - Outdoor (main) Champs

Pentathlon & 3000m

10000m

The above events for 2020 have been cancelled and it is unlikely they will take place until 2021.

British Masters

For those who are 35 years old or over, there are a number of Regional and national events throughout the season. For more information of events see the British Masters website.

If you are looking to enter a British masters event you will also need to join a Vets association such as Southern County Vets. For more information contact Brian Yeomans.

Open Meetings

There are several open track and field meetings held locally at Watford and Lee Valley. If you are looking to give something a try, practice for upcoming competitions or are looking for a PB then these are ideal.
