Club Competitions

The St Albans Striders provide plenty of opportunities to race, including races organised by the club, league events that the club enters, and locally organised races. If you intend to run, please wear a club vest, available from our online shop.

Striders' Races

The club organises and hosts three races, the Fred Hughes 10 (January), the Solstice 10k (July) and the St Albans Stampede (September).

We also organise a Club Handicap and we have a Club Championship targeting a number of local races.

Cross Country

During the winter we enter the County, Southern and National Cross-Country (XC) championships and take part in the Chiltern and Sunday Leagues. For the Southern, County & Nationals individuals have to be entered in advance, by the club captains. For more information please see the Cross Country Page.

Mid Week Road Race League

During the summer the club enters the Mid Week Road Race League, with 5 races hosted at a number of local clubs (including one in St Albans) over a distance of approx. 10k. See the MWRRL section for more details.

Track

There are opportunities to compete on the track as we are affiliated with St Albans Athletics Club who take part in the Southern Athletics League. We also take part in the Southern Counties Vets League. See the Track & Field section for more details.

Other

Beyond our host races, club championship races, cross country, road league and track races, Striders can be found at many other events, from the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc to the British Athletics championships!
