There was an incredible turn out of Striders at the Herts Country Cross Country Championships on Sunday with just under 60 senior athletes tackling the chilly weather on the hills of their home turf in Verulamium Park in St Albans, providing a spectacle of yellow and blue as far as the eye could see. Having such depth provided a great advantage when it came to team placings. The females took first and second place, with the A-team consisting of Keira Stern (4th), Hannah Rayden (5th), Hannah Burkhardt (8th) and Megan Zoe Walker (10th) and the B-team consisting of Penny Habbick (12th), Freya Weddell (14th), Lily Seach (19th) and Christina Durbin (20th). The males also rose to the challenge, securing gold medal place with the winning team made up of Cameron Dockerill (4th), Philip Evans (6th), George Withers (10th), Chris Dennell (14th), Adam Yorwerth (15th), and Jonathan Scott (17th). It was a huge team effort from Striders and AC to host the event, with almost as many volunteers setting up the course and marshalling as racing, with many managing both. Thanks goes out to all those involved in making the event such a great success.
