Wednesday evening St Albans Striders host the second of 4 races in the Midweek League. This is a race run over 10k and the Striders are the current holders of the trophy having won in 2022.

There were 103 Striders in a field of 455.

Both the men’s and women’s teams continued their great form taking the overall race position of 1st.

The leading ladies were Hollie Ryder who finished 8th overall in a personal best time of 38.51 . She was closely followed by Penny Habbick, Lilly Seach, Hannah Burkhardt and Laura Hicks who finished 11th, 12th, 13th and 14th respectively.

The men’s race was won by Striders’s Cameron Dockerill in a time of 31:16. Close behind were Jonny Pennell, Paul Adams and Stefano Federici who all finished in the top 10.

Saturday saw 3 Striders enter the Iffley Festival of Miles. This is a 1 mile race run on the Oxford track where Roger Bannister ran the first sub 4 minute mile in 1954. Louise Bentham 6:23:27, Nigel Aston 5:27:68 and Andrew Dobinson 6:07:11 achieved personal bests in their respective races. In the elite race there were 5 runners who achieved a sub 4 minute mile.
