Welwyn 10k and Sunday League Cross Country Success

Over 300 runners took part in a cold and windy Welwyn 10k, of which 9 were representing St Albans Striders. First home for Striders was Patrick Hayes in an impressive time of 37:58 to take 6th place overall and first MV40. Judy Willits also placed first in her FV55 category to finish 17th female overall in 50:03.

The final Sunday League XC took place at Royston, completing the popular winter series. Striders were led home by Nigel Aston (1st V55), Derek Fowler (5th V55) and Colin Braybrook (1st V60). Meanwhile Wendy Walsh (5th FV45), Kate Tettmar and Gill Hudnott led the charge for the ladies. Other XC mud enthusiasts appearing this week were Jonathon Bird, Anthony Nicolson, Anthony Bunker, Christopher Ball, Andrew Dobinson, Roger Sant, Richard Underwood, Adrian Jones and Mark Travers.

The final Chiltern league fixture at Biggleswade and the iconic Nationals at Parliament Hill are now the main events left of the XC season.
