The St Albans Striders membership year runs from April to March each year, concurrent with the England Athletics membership year.
Sunday saw several Striders participating in the “Big Half” in London – a route around London’s docklands taking in Canary Wharf and Tower Bridge and finishing by the Cutty Sark in Greenwich.
Strong results included Jonathan Bird (1:27:56 – PB), Laura Eccott (1:42:39), Mark Hallam (1:48:56), Josie Hillier (1:49:33) and Ruth Crowther (1:58:56 – PB) as part of her training for the Berlin Marathon next month.
Elsewhere Stephen Hosty finished in 8th place in the Thorpe & Egham 10k race while Rose McGuiness and Laura Astley completed the Oundle 20-miler together in 3:11:29.
Jake Butterfield and Tom Toyer flew the flag for Striders at the Snowdonia Half Marathon, finishing 25th and 26th in 1:42:27 and 1:42:41 on the tough but beautiful course with over 2,000 feet of elevation gain and descent.
