Weekly Report 1 August 2021

Several Striders took part in the London Landmarks Half Marathon on Sunday, organised in aid of the charity Tommy’s which funds pioneering research into miscarriage, stillbirth and premature birth. The race is run around some of the most well-known and iconic locations in central London, including Big Ben, the Tower of London, St Paul’s, and finishing by Nelson’s Column.

Striders results in the race included Nicky Laitner (1:42:11 and 8th in age category); Caroline Bailes (1:42:40 and 9th in category); Spencer Grant (1:43:04 PB); Richard Olney (1:43:14); Adrian Jones (1:48:42 PB); Ruth Crowther (2:00:40 and 6th in age group); Bex Hodgson-Jones (2:06:49).

Elsewhere veteran marathoner Jack Brooks completed the Twilight Marathon at Redbridge Cycle Centre (with over 1,500 feet of elevation gain) in 5:39:32 and Steven Harrison ran a PB of 2hrs15 in the Lee Valley velodrome Half Marathon.
