Striders Hit 6 Stars With Success On the Roads From London to Tokyo

Spring appears to have sprung and the Striders were in flying mood on the roads with success across all distances from 5k to Marathon.

Tokyo Marathon was the location for the first major of 2025 and 5 Striders made the trip east to take on 26.2 in the Japanese metropolis. Ruth Crowther, Alan Proudfoot and Ruth Kent completed their sixth star on the Abbots World Major grand slam and were joined by Steve Scorer and Anna Carter (PB).

Closer to home there was a huge Striders turnout at the Berkhamsted Half with 22 blue and yellow vests toeing the line on the undulating Hertfordshire lanes. James Bryden (1:16:29) 9th overall was first home for the men while Kate Dixon (1:31:51) flew the flag for the women to finish 7th. Martin Healey obliterated his half marathon PB by over 6 minutes to finish in 1:24:03 (35th overall)

On Friday Heather Hann was in action at the Serpentine Last Friday 5k race in Hyde Park. Hann took the victory in 17:50 to seal her clean sweep of the v35 women’s club records.

Also in record breaking form, Stefano Federici set a new v40 record at the RomaOstia half marathon in Rome. The Strider was on the elite start for the first time finishing first v40 and 22nd overall to claim a new PB of 1:10:14.
