We enjoyed a standout weekend of racing, delivering impressive performances and topping podiums across two popular local events – the Hemel 10K and the Wheathampstead 10K.

At the Hemel 10K, Catherine O’Connor led the charge with a superb run to claim first female position, crossing the line in a rapid 38:37. Also racing in Hemel, Wendy Walsh secured a podium finish in the accompanying 5K event, placing third female. Evelyn Parry also took on the 10k event, come first female in the V55 category.

Further success followed at the Wheathampstead 10K, which took place on the same day and saw an impressive 16 St Albans Striders take part. Leading the pack was Freya Wedell, who finished first female and second overall.

Mark Kennedy also produced a strong performance, finishing fourth overall and taking third place in the men’s category.

Striders also took on the 10k distance in Bognor and Oxford – with Nathalie Myfanwy finishing 13th female at the Bognor 10km and Damian Pa taking on the Town & Gown 10k in 38:49.

Five Striders made it down to London for the Hackney Half with Sam Williams finishing in 1:18, followed by Danny Brunt who finished with a PB of 1:28.

Across in Wales, Jake James completed the UTMB Snowdonia 50k. He finished 38th overall and covered 34,00m of elevation.

An unbelievable week for Striders and a fantastic indication for what’s to come as we enter the summer race season.
