The St Albans Striders membership year runs from April to March each year, concurrent with the England Athletics membership year.
Despite strong competition, Striders had some great individual and team results, at the Standalone 10k in Letchworth, at the weekend.
Freya Weddell continues her amazing streak, coming in as First Female (9th overall) in 35:03. Stacey Ormerod came 1st in her category with a 37:26. They were also both part of the winning Female County Team, alongside Kate Dixon. The Striders team of Helen Cartlidge, Wendy Walsh and Ruth Kent also came in third, to show great dominance. Eva Dixon of St Albans Athletic Club finished first in her category, in 43:08
The men also finished strongly, with Adam Yorwerth taking 6th place in 34:17. Patrick Hayes was second in his category in 35:30. They were joined as a team with Thomas Toyer and Gavin Murrison, taking 2nd place for the County Male Team.
Farther afield, Striders were also present at the Chester Marathon. Glyn Huckerby and Richard Davis squeezed in under 3hrs (02:55:31 and 02:59:25 respectively), with Rose McGinness finishing in 04:03:25.
As we continue through the autumn race season, it will interesting to see more club records and personal bests coming through.
