The St Albans Striders membership year runs from April to March each year, concurrent with the England Athletics membership year.
The week opened with a high-velocity outing at the Silverstone Grand Prix 10K, where the Striders traded the roar of engines for the rhythmic strike of trainers on the iconic circuit. Errol Maginley led the charge with an exceptional performance, clocking 38:05 to secure a prestigious second-place finish in the M60 category. Not far behind, Stuart Middleton posted a strong 41:04, while Jenny Maginley earned her own spot on the podium with a 43:05 finish, taking third in the F45 age group. Marcus Hooper rounded out a successful mid-week session at the track with a solid time of 43:37.
Transitioning from the road to the field on Saturday, the spotlight fell on the 2026 Hertfordshire County Athletics Championships. Jethro Offemaria delivered the standout performance of the day in the shot put circle. With a powerful throw of 5.71m, he outclassed the field to claim the gold medal and the title of County Champion, adding a brilliant victory to the Striders' weekend tally.
The momentum continued through Sunday morning at the Marlow 5, where the Striders faced a fast-paced five-mile course. John Cooper demonstrated impressive speed and tactical awareness, crossing the finish line in 33:25 to earn a highly competitive fourth place in his age category. He was joined by Angela Keogh, who put in a determined effort to finish in 44:55. From county gold to hard-fought road miles, it has been a week defined by consistency and silverware for the Striders.
