As the cross country season has now come to a close St Albans Striders focused their attention more traditional half marathons and other similar events this weekend. And despite the chilly conditions many Striders achieved some remarkable runs with many gaining personal best times. Here are some of the highlights from the weekend.

Definitely the most amazing achievement was Carrie Frazer who ran 3 track marathons in 2 days with a combined running time of well over 14 hours! Carrie was running these races to raise money and awareness for CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably).

Another super achievement was Ellie Morris who completed the 20 mile event the Grizzly Bear 2022 in Seaton, Devon which is organised by the aptly named Axe Valley Runners. The event looked an incredibly difficult challenge.

Running the same distance but on a slightly more even surface in the Essex 20 Matthew Cooper achieved a pb and a club record of 1.53:43 finishing in 11th position.

At the Cambridge half marathon there were excellent performances with many personal bests for Phillip Evans 1.14:08, Alan Castle 1.33:47, Andy Normile 1.42:58 and Emily Baker 1.43:32.

At the Berkhamsted half there was a pb for Jake Butterfield in 1.19:59.

And at the Wimbledon half Steve Scorer not only achieved a pb in 1.29:32, but he also finished 18th overall and was first in the V50 category beating his nearest opponent by over 8 minutes.
