For many the marathon is the ultimate endurance race but over the weekend a number of Striders decided to push the boundaries a little further with ultra distances, night running and steep climbs and descents.

Andrew Mckillop and Alice Cliverd completed the Thames Path 100 in 20hrs 55mins and 27hrs 26min respectively. This 100 mile course is a point to point race which takes runners from Richmond in South West London to the centre of Oxford. Mckillop finished 28th overall out of a field of over 200 and was 5th in his age category. The conditions underfoot made this one of the toughest he had experienced in his 6 finishes in the event, with many competitors not making it to the finish line.

Further North, Jen Conway, Hollie Ryder and Jonny Pennell had the honour of representing Hertfordshire at the Senior British Inter-Counties Mountain Race in Sedburgh in Cumbria. The course was 14km long and included a climb of 760 metres.

In a more familiar event Natalie Richards was 38th overall out of a field of 350 and 8th female at the Olympic Park 10km in a time of 45 min 37 seconds. She was closely followed by team mate Will Brown who was 46th overall in 46.20.
