The St Albans Striders membership year runs from April to March each year, concurrent with the England Athletics membership year.
On Sunday 9th March, a number of striders raced in the Cambridge Half Marathon. Despite the heat and twisty course, we had some fantastic results. In the women’s race, Lucy Waterlow achieved a time of 1.23, followed by Hannah Burkhardt with 1.25. Coming in third and running her first half marathon, Lily Seach got a time of 1.26. For the men’s race, Adam Yorwerth secured a brilliant time of 1.13, and Chris Dennell completed the course in 1.19.
Elsewhere, Freya Weddell had an amazing run in the Inter-counties Cross Country Championships in Nottingham, coming in 15th place. There were some other great runs from St Albans athletes, including Kate Dixon who was representing Hertfordshire. George Booth represented the county in the men’s race, and Steve Buckle ran for Buckinghamshire.
The achievements didn’t stop there. In London, Patrick Hayes secured a new PB at the Battersea Half Marathon, with a time of 1.16, and coming in 17th place overall.
What a brilliant week of running, and congratulations to everyone who competed!
