Magnificent Max Campbell successfully slashed another club record after finishing the Valencia marathon in Spain in a time of 2:56:31. His achievement was an incredible 40 minutes faster than the existing M60 record which was in place for 6 years and is the 13th fastest marathon recorded in 2023 for this age group in Great Britain. Also competing was Steve Scorer, Sotir Stoichev and Andrew McKillop who finished in a fantastic 2:58:22, 3:14:27 and 3:20:06 respectively.

Closer to home, just over 40 Striders braved the freezing conditions at the 3^rd race of the Chiltern Cross Country League series on Saturday which was held at the very wind exposed Stopsley Common in Luton. With such a great turnout the female team secured first place out of 16 teams in Division 1 with the winning team of six made up of Hannah Rayden (10th), Lucy Waterlow (12th), Hannah Burkhardt (16th), Lilly Seach (19th), Penny Habbick (25th), and Kate Dixon (38th). The men’s team finished in 6th place overall with the team of ten consisting of Cameron Dockerill (3rd), Archie Marshall (15th), Stephen Buckle (21st), Ross May (80th), Chris Dennell (86th), Thomas Croft (87th), Josef Wheeler (95th), Rob Smith (101st), Gavin Murrison (102nd), and Rory Marsh (114th).

On Sunday, Thomas Croft, Liam Gilhooly and Bethany Hopla ran in the Grafham Water 10 mile trail run around the reservoir near Huntington. However due to the icy conditions the course had to be cut short to 9 miles at the last minute. Croft finished an impressive 2^nd place, with Gilhooly 27^th and Hopla placing 10^th female

Also choosing a good time to escape the UK weather, Jack Brooks and Ivan Ghouse headed to Lanzarote where Brooks completed the Marathon in 5 hours and 31 minutes (bringing his marathon total to a staggering 584!) and Ghouse completed the half marathon in 1:44:50.

In other news round up Rebecca Butler earned herself a person best of 1:41:27 at the Victoria Park Half and Adam Dunbavand finished in the top 10% at the Battersea Park 10k in a time of 39:29.
