Sunday’s St Albans Half Marathon was the venue for many personal achievements and PBs. The day dawned bright and clear, promising a good day of running for all strider participants from the half marathon to the 5km.

The early start to the half (9am) and the slightly cooler weather on the day compared with last year helped our striders reach their peaks. Paul Adams continued his impressive form with a third position podium finish and a time of 82.44! Heather Hann also excelled for Striders coming in second with a time of 1:24! Equally impressive at the 5km race was John Logan being the first Strider home at 20:04 and taking 11th place overall.

We mustn’t forget all the pacers that worked hard to keep the momentum going, the volunteers that worked tirelessly to make it a fun and enjoyable day for all and also the supporters that kept the runners’ spirits up. They all contributed together to make the St Albans Half the superb event it was. Overall, a very good day at the races with countless PBs.

Elsewhere, and by no means any lesser of an achievement was the weekender Welsh Castles Relay where Striders finished 21st in the open category and 25th out of 60 teams with a podium for Meg. To top it all they also raised £580 for the track!
