Striders Enjoy Summer Success On The Road

It was a busy weekend of racing for Striders up and down the country as a number of runners took on various events at the weekend.

In Sheffield the trio of Caroline Bailes, Alice Clilverd and Binh Tang took on the round Sheffield run. The multi stage enduro marked a welcome return to racing for the Striders Chair who has endured a long spell out through injury.

Just down the road in Bakewell several Striders tackled the Pudding Fell Race. All finishers received a Bakewell pudding for their efforts. Louise Bentham enjoyed the challenge of running through a river at the finish and it was great to see 9 Striders make the journey north and using the Facebook group to coordinate travel.

Patrick Hayes returned to his childhood village to take on the Horndon 10k. The strider was in fine form finishing first male V40 in a time of 36:39 and knocking off 100s off his previous course best.

Jack Brooks chalked off another marathon (no. 601) as he took on the Ebor Trial Marathon in York.

Closer to home in the Welwyn 10k the Striders were in fine form as Chris Dennell and Freya Weddell both picked up first place in the male and female catagories. John Cooper took first in the V60 category in a super time of 45:35 and Matthew Latto dipped under the hour mark to finish in 59:01.
