St Albans Striders 12th January 2020

A double dose of cross country this weekend.

Saturday saw the fourth fixture of the Chiltern League at Keysoe in Bedfordshire. The tough 10k course includes an equestrian water hazard. An accident on the A1 prevented several Striders getting to the race, but the club held on to their 5th place in the league.

In the men’s race there were strong team performances from Oliver Knight (41st), Will Bowran 45th, Steve Buckle (52nd), Doug Hobson (57th), Gareth Parker (69th), Richard Evans 75th, Stephen Hosty 90th, Derek Fowler 116th, Errol Maginley 123 and Seb Rowe 131.

The ladies were led home by Lucy Jones (11th), jenny Maginley 19th, Megan Steer (21st), Deb Steer (52nd), Wendy Walsh (62nd), Mandy Attree (75th).

Sunday League at Whippendell Woods, Watford saw captain Richard Evans again scoring in 36th, with the rest of the scoring team being Jon Scott (6th), James Firth (26th), Graham Smith (28th) Jordan Lister 37th, Alex Johnston 87th, Nigel Aston 92nd and Richard Davis 99th. For the ladies Jenny Maginley again scored in 148th, with the rest of the team being Helen Cartlidge, Deborah Noel, Allie Park Crowne and Ellie Morris.
