The St Albans Striders membership year runs from April to March each year, concurrent with the England Athletics membership year.
Striders were racing both close to home and overseas this weekend, with podium finishes for two Striders women.
Catherine O’Connor came second in a fast field at the Maidenhead Half Marathon today (Sunday 26th October), running 1.22.47. This was her second fastest time over the half, despite it being a windy day.
At the Thames Path Trail Run, Georgie Noble showed impressive form over 10 miles - coming in not only as third woman, but third overall finisher in 1.17.55. Starting in Windsor, this was a beautiful run along the scenic Thames Path.
There were several Striders taking part in the 41st Ricky Road Race, in nearby Rickmansworth. The first Strider home was Will Giltrow, who crossed the line in 1.07.11. He was closely followed by Mark Dean (1.07.15), with Matt Vowles (1.09.20), Jack Sedgwick (1.19.00) and Daniel Abela (1.20.40) also running.
Johanna Houlahan, Alex Lane and Laura Lane also ran the beautiful but challenging Beachy Head Marathon, with Jenni Johnston running the ultramarathon.
Further afield, four Striders ran the Valencia Half: increasingly popular with runners from around the world as it is a famously fast course. Bex McMurray ran a PB of 1.42.20, while Anna Silkstone ran 1.45.55 and Fergus Sheridan ran 1.50.21. Ruth Crowther also ran her best time since 2021, with 2.02.32.
