The St Albans Striders membership year runs from April to March each year, concurrent with the England Athletics membership year.
To kick off the long weekend, Striders and Athletic Club were out in force at the St Albans Easter 10K on Friday; with nearly 40 runners from the two clubs taking part.
Patrick Hayes continues his amazing form during London Marathon training, by finishing 3rd overall in a time of 34:21 (taking 45 seconds off his previous best). Adam Healey (38:04), Kate Dixon (39:37, and another impressive personal best), Lucy Richardson, John Cooper and Eva Dighe all finished first in their categories too. Martin Healey and Richard Spicer also finished in the top 50 runners, with Richard taking almost 4 minutes off his previous time.
At the Stevenage Half Marathon on Sunday, Nick Buttenshaw came 4th, with a great time of 1:24:37; just missing out on a podium position by 6 seconds.
Farther afield, Jim King completed the Boston Marathon in a blistering 2:47:07, coming 17th in his category. This is the first in his marathon-double with London next weekend; raising money for Cancer Research Trust, in memory of his son Ethan.
Good luck to those with London, Manchester, and other races in their sights…
