There was a fantastic turn out at the St Albans Easter 10k held at Highfield Park in glorious weather on Good Friday with over 1,200 finishers split evenly between male and female competitors with the course taking them along the Alban Way.

There was strong representation from St Albans Striders with four Striders finishing in the top 10, led by Will Bowran who finished in a fantastic 2nd place with a new personal best time of 32 min and 19 seconds. He was closely followed by Stefano Federici (finishing 4th place in 34.27), Tony Brady-Locke (6th in 34.51), and Barnaby Walker (8th in 35.36). Other notable performances by the Striders in the men’s race were James Hedley-Hamilton, Douglas Hobson, Patrick Hayes and Max Campbell who all ran under 40 minutes and finished in the top 50 overall. Recognition also goes to Bill Harding who finished 3rd in his age category.

In the female race, Megan Wilson also led the Striders home with an impressive 2nd place and a time of 37.08, followed by Kate Dixon (15th female in 43.28), Fleur Harvey Keenan (24th female and 2nd in her age category in 45.12), and Katherine Caris-Harris (3rd in her age category in 46.57). Diane Hunt also successfully finished 3rd in her age category.

Further afield, representing the Striders at the Hemsley Multi Terrain 10k in North Yorkshire, Rob and Bernadette Newby completed the challenging course in 46.18 and 1.15.22 respectively with Rob earning himself second place in his age category.

Even further, across the Atlantic Ruth Kent completed the Boston Marathon in a very impressive 3.59.09 safely under the 4 hour milestone in very hot conditions and only a couple of weeks after running the Manchester marathon. Well done Ruth!
