To prepare for a weekend filled with consumption of chocolate eggs and hot cross buns, the Striders were out in force at the St Albans Easter 10K on Good Friday; with over 40 runners from the club taking part.

Freya Weddell and Lily Search finished as 2nd and 3rd females, also leading their age group in phenomenal times of 40:14 and 40:38 respectively. Kate Dixon (41:40) and Hollie Ryder (42:17) were close behind as 5th and 6th females, with Kate also chalking up a personal best time.

For the men, James Bryden just missed out on a podium place, finishing 4th despite a blistering time of 35:02. He was joined in the top 10 by Jacob James (35:13). Max Campbell came 2nd in his age category with a swift 40:46. Martin Healey’s training paid off with a personal best time of 40:38. Stephen Hosty also deserves a special mention, for a strong finish of 41:10, despite facing heavy wind-resistance from his 40min pacing sign.

To close the long weekend, Paul Stack, Adam Herron and Jamie Nelson tackled the Bedford Half Marathon on the bank holiday Monday. Paul came 4th overall and 3rd male in a new personal best of 1:24:12. Adam was pleased to hit his best form since 2012 with a finish of 1:35:53, with James not far behind in 1:44:03 (having also finished the Easter 10K in 47:46 only 3 days prior).
