Christmas celebrations didn’t stop Striders from getting out to race this week. There were two local 10 mile races which Striders took part in on Sunday 28 December, at Buntingford and Pednor. 

There were lots of Striders at the annual Buntingford Year End 10, a road race incorporating the Hertfordshire Veterans Road Running County Championship. Standout performances included Catherine O’Connor (1 hour 1), who was second female overall, and Errol Maginley (1 hour 6), who was first in his age category. 

Kate Dixon (1 hour 7) and Jenny Maginley (1 hour 11) also impressed, coming second and third in their age categories respectively. Together with Fleur Harvey-Keenan (1 hour 16), they won the county silver veterans team.

There were also notable performances from Matt Cooper (57 mins) and Jonathan Scott (1 hour), who were both second in their age categories. 

Separately, Striders competed in the Pednor 10 in Chesham, completing two laps of a five-mile route. There were some outstanding performances, including James Bryden who was second overall (57 mins) and Matthew Nicholls who finished eighth (1 hour). Paul Stack was second in his age category and thirteenth overall (1 hour 4), and Adam Herron was sixth in his age category and 42nd overall (1 hour 9).
