Runners from St Albans Striders were busy both home and abroad this week.

Anna Buckingham competed in the Tor des Geants race, a 340 km race with 24,0000m of ascent around the Aosta Valley in the heart of the Alps.  With a cut off time of 150 hours, Buckingham completed the race in 143 hours.  Reflecting on the race, she said, “the most incredible part was reaching the final 2,900m summit to the exact moment the sun poked out her head.”

Also running an impressive distance Laura Hicks achieved a PB and was 6th lady at the Chiltern Wonderland 50 mile race, coming home in 9.14.

At the Berlin Marathon, Alex Johnston finished in 3.09, an incredible 15 minute PB, while Richard Hayes came home in 3.55, just 12 minutes off his marathon PB.

Closer to home, Natalie Edwards completed the Kew Gardens 10k in 1.06, 2 minutes faster than the previous year.

This weekend Striders ran at 24 different parkrun locations. Amanda and Richard Derrick enjoyed Whitstable parkrun, Christine McIntyre travelled to Queen’s parkrun in Belfast, and Martin Crisp ventured further afield to Toyen parkrun in Norway.  Doug Hobson was 1st at Westmill parkun, Sebastian Rowe was 3rd at Penrose parkrun, and Jonathan Scott was 3rd at Dulwich parkrun.
