Striders were well represented in Brighton on Sunday as they swapped yellow and blue for the orange of Herts at the Intercounty 10k race on the south coast.

Freya Weddell, Catherine O’Connor, Stefano Federici and Matthew Cooper answered the call for a county vest and were in for a tough race as the southern counties finest runners met in blustery conditions at Hove lawns.

Weddell was first across the line for the ladies equalling a long-standing club record time of 35:12 set by Victoria Webster in 2012. Joining her teammate with a PB performance Catherine O’Connor was next home finishing in 37:47 just a week after securing a personal best over the half marathon distance.

For the men Stefano Federici ran 32:36 to claim a new V40 club record and was closely followed by Matthew Cooper who ran a season’s best time of 33:27 in both their second outings for the county.

Andy Jordan was also in action at the event and improved his v60 club record time by 3 seconds to finish in 37:17.

Further afield at St Neots Ann Coleman smashed through the 2hr barrier in the half marathon as she clocked a PB of 1:57. Jacob James and Paul Stack took on the Chiltern Ridge 50km Ultra with James second overall and Stack 1st v50 in a time of 4hrs 10min.
