Virtual Summer Solstice 10k 2020

Virtual St Albans Summer Solstice 10K, 2020

We were looking forward to welcoming you once again this summer, for what would have been the 5th renewal of our St Albans Summer Solstice. Like so many events, this will sadly not take place as originally planned this year.

But undeterred, we would like to invite you to take part in our Virtual St Albans Summer Solstice 10K! The actual Solstice itself takes place on Saturday 20th June this year, but your run can be done, at any time over the weekend of the 20th/21st June.

You can run, jog, walk, whichever you choose. You might decide to run with a friend (2m apart of course) or take the family for a walk, it’s entirely up to you. For those who wish to submit a time, you will be given a link to the results page and you will be able to see where you finished on the Leaderboard. This is by all means not compulsory and the main aim is to get out there and have some energetic fun while celebrating the Summer Solstice with us.

Everyone who signs up will be sent one of our iconic medals, which has changed colours once again, sporting a stylish pink and black combination for 2020.

Entries open on 1 June and will close at midnight on 19 June or when reaching our limit of 700 medals (whichever is the sooner).

We are using the virtual event to support our chosen charity, The Hygiene Bank, a grassroots community initiative giving hygiene, personal care & household cleaning products to those of us who need them across the UK. £2 of your entry will be donated to the charity, as will any other surpluses once the cost of posting the medas has been deducted. Rest assured we will be making no profit from this event. It is just £5 to enter and there is also the opportunity to make a separate donation, if you should choose to. ENTER NOW

So how does it work?
Enter via this page. Your name will be uploaded to the results page and a link to the page will be emailed to all entrants ready for you do your run/walk and record your time. When you have completed your run, find your name on the race results page, verify your identity by entering your year of birth and upload your time/strava/garmin link (if you have one) and then see where you finish on the leaderboard. As mentioned above, please don’t feel like you have to record your time if you prefer not to, but it would be great to see how everyone gets on.

Social Solstice
Those who have taken part in the Solstice before, will know that one of the key elements that go into making this such a fun and memorable event, is the post-run BBQ. We will endeavour to get all medals out prior to the weekend, so if you are having a post-run BBQ or beverage, we’d love to see your pics with your medals uploaded to our facebook page, just search St-Albans-Summer-Solstice-10K!

Rest assured, if we are allowed to be on in 2021, we will be back! In the meantime we look forward to seeing lots of your Virtual St Albans Summer Solstice 10K pics and posts over the weekend of the 20th/21st! Good luck everyone!
