The 2023 Saucony National CC Champs

Saucony National Cross Country Championship - Bolesworth Castle

Venue

The Saucony English National Cross Country Championships 2023 is being staged at a new venue in the North of England. Originally the Championships this year were due to be staged at Harewood House, Leeds where they had been previously staged in 2019. The venue had to be changed late last summer when the estate obtained a government stewardship grant which does not allow thousands of people to run or walk across a venue that has a grant. Officials in the North then turned their attention to a new venue and Bolesworth Castle and Estate was chosen. This venue is used to holding large sporting events there although not the National Cross Country Championships before. The large venue which is 8 miles outside of Chester can park thousands of cars, also coaches and mini-buses. There is also a lot of land such that the Senior Men’s race will be over 2 x 6K laps rather than the usual 3 x 4K so hopefully lapping will be considerably reduced.
