May 2010

• Apologies for the delay in publishing the handicap results - these are now online on the handicap page.

• After another good turnout for the MWRRL (results here)- we have just pipped GCR and we are in the lead overall. Come on Striders let's defend our title and win again! (By the way we still need more mershals for the Striders hosted MWRRL on June 30th)

• Well done everyone who took part in the club handicap. Apologies for the delay in results but they will be up later today on the handicap page :-)

• Many congratulations to everyone who ran the St Albans 10K. Results are available online & photos are available in the gallery.

Apr 2010

• Many congratualtions to Deborah Steer, Sally Onn & Zoe Lowe who managed to come an incredible 2nd place in the London Marathon Ladies team event!! Well done Striders!

• The Striders handicap race is back on Tue May 18th a 4 mile race designed to allow runners of all standards to compete together by applying a time penalty to the faster runners. It will replace the track session on the Tue night and will be followed by a Striders tea night too.

• Our May tea night will be moved to 18th so that we get to eat more food (as some will be left over from the 10K on the previous weekend). It is also going to be the night of the 1st 2010 Striders handicap race.

• After a bout of marathons we have updated the club champs standings - available on the Club Champs page

• Well done to everyone who ran the London Marathon (and supported!). The coach up was sold out again and there were lots of Striders at the Peahen on Sunday evening to celebrate.

Mar 2010

• Our April tea night is being brought forward to Tue 30th March so that we can combine it with a nutrition presentation from a Lucozde rep. This is perfect for anyone doing the London Marathon, but anyone is welcome and it will be of benefit to all runners.

Feb 2010

• The provisional dates for the MWRRL have been decided. Having won last year, we will be hoping for a great turnout and some great runs so that we can retain our title at the top of division 1. More details here.

• The first round of the club champs was the Watford Half and we have uploaded the current standings on the Club Champs page .

• Entries are open for the St Albans 10K on 9th May 2010, 10am start. More info here.

• The Striders Feats marathon special newsletter is available online.

Nov 2009

• We are hosting the County XC in St Albans on 10th Jan 2010. It would be great to get a good Striders turnout & we will also be asking for some marshals in due course.

• Tickets are still available for the Striders Annual Dinner - see the social page for more details

• Entries for the Fred Hughes 10 are now open either on Runners World (online) or on the FH10 page for postal entries.

• We are hoping that lots of Striders will be running the Watford Half 2010. We will be a having a social get together afterwards in a local pub (details to follow).

Oct 2009

• The Winter 2009 Striders Feats newsletter has been published. It's been sent to all members, but you can also download it on the newsletters page.

• Unlucky in the London Marathon ballot? We have 4 places that are picked out of the hat - to see the details needed for application see here.

• The Striders annual meal is on the 14th Nov. More details on the social page.

• The Striders AGM took place on the 1st Oct & mintues will be uploaded o the website soon. We also have a 4 new committee members, Sally Onn as Chairman, Sheryl Norman as Secretary, Alison Telfer as Membership Sec. & Gladstone Thompson as Kitman. Huge thanks to the outgoing members Caroline Malkinson, Helen Durance, Trevor Clements & Colin Braybrook (who is actually still on the committee as deputy chairman)

• At the AGM members voted to join the Chiltern cross country league. Most of the fixtures do clash with the met league but the venues may be more convenient particually if you have children running in Chiltern League. XC starts on the 10th Oct, is free for all members and all dates and info are on the XC page.

Sep 2009

• Don't forget the club is going out for a run round Ashridge forest on Sunday 20th Sep. More details on the messageboard.

• Well done to everyone who ran the Striders handicap race last week - and a very big thank you to Ray for organising such a slickly run event. The results will follow soon.

• Huge congratualtions to everyone who ran the Mid Week Road Race League which we have won this year. For details visit the results page.

• We are happy to reintroduce the club handicap race over 4 miles which is on 7th July (with a tea night thrown in for good measure). More details & a map on the messageboard.

• Well done everyone with coming to the MidWeek Road Race League (MWRRL) races. After 3 of 4 races we are ahead in both the men's and ladies. Roll on the St Albans race on 2nd July.

• The MidWeek Road Race League (MWRRL) starts this week on Thurs 14th in Welwyn. Check the MWRRL page for more details.

• The St Albans 10k was run in glorious weather, congratulations to all racers and thank you to all who helped organise the race. Results are available on the results page.

• Striders Ladies win the Herts Vets Cross Country Champions - huge congratulations to Deborah Steer, Liz McKie and Zoe Lowe.
