La Santa Trip

Following the success of last year's trip, the Club will once again be organising a week-long warm weather training camp at Club La Santa, on the island of Lanzarote in the Canaries. This is a fantastic facility, boasting a 400m running track, 50m heated outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts, fully equipped gym and pretty much every exercise class under the sun. Full details are here: http://www.clublasanta.co.uk/

In addition, Lanzarote offers an incredible choice of cycling routes around the volcanic terrain, so this trip is highly recommended for the triathletes amongst you.

To cater for spring marathons and popular demand, the planned dates are Thursday 23rd February to Thursday 1st March 2012 (to be confirmed).

In terms of cost, last year most people paid about £400 for a week's accommodation, which includes all the activities at Club La Santa. Food on site can add up over the course of the week (especially when you consider how many calories you are burning!), but the apartments are equipped for self-catering. Flights are extra but not too expensive through the usual budget airlines.

Tom Crouch has kindly offered to organise the trip this year and he is usually down on a Tuesday night if you would like any more information. There were 20 or so of us on the last trip, including Gladstone, Coach Jubb, Paul (men's captain), John Ockenden, Petra, Deirdre and Luke, any of whom I am sure would be happy to answer your questions (or you can ask me). You can also read some amusing accounts of the week on the Striders' blog.

At this stage, we are just interested in numbers, so if you think you would like to come, please This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.  Tom. Once we have a critical mass, you will be asked for a deposit of £100 to secure the booking.
